Low Force Chiropractic

low force chiropractic

Low force chiropractic techniques are different from the traditional style of chiropractic that utilizes manual manipulation. The major difference is that low force chiropractic techniques do not produce an audible sound when aligning the bones. This means there are no cracking, popping, or loud noises that happen with the adjustment. The patient also does not need to be twisted or moved much during the treatment.

Low force chiropractic techniques are safe for people of all ages. It is gentle enough to adjust kids and infants, osteoporotic patients, patients with arthritis, post-surgical patients, and pregnant women. They are effective for patients who suffer from chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia or complex regional pain syndrome.
At Anatomy, we blend together two low force chiropractic techniques that we have found to be the most effective in getting patients out of pain and keeping the pain away. These two techniques, or specialties, are Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic and Activator Chiropractic.

We often get the question: is low force chiropractic as effective as a manual manipulation? Yes it is! In fact, we get better results with Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic and Activator Chiropractic because we are addressing the true cause of the concerns before we adjust the entire spine.

Atlas Orthogonal

Atlas Orthogonal addresses the cause of most musculoskeletal compensations within the body because the position of the upper cervical spine in relation to the head and neck determines the foundation of all the bones in the body. The Atlas Orthogonal machine uses a percussive force, initiated by a sound wave, that produces six pounds of force to align the bones. This weight was determined to be the minimum amount of force required to move the C1 vertebrae by scientists at MIT. It takes a human hand a lot of training to reproduce this force consistently. Additionally, the Atlas Orthogonal instrument is able to deliver the force precisely onto the most lateral point of C1, where the adjustment is most effective.

Activator Chiropractic

Activator Chiropractic is the speciality that we use to address the rest of the compensations within the spine. Activator Chiropractic utilizes a spring loaded instrument called the Activator. The Activator creates a high velocity, low amplitude force – like a manual manipulation – when moving the bone. However, the difference is: reproducibility and precision. The instrument allows us to set the force output and precisely direct it onto an exact area of the bone. Activator Chiropractic also has certain protocols that allow us to objectively test for which bones need to be aligned.

No Pain Chiropractic

At Anatomy Chiropractic, we believe that these two low force chiropractic techniques create the most specific and effective treatments for our patients to experience no pain chiropractic treatments and get lasting results quickly. Anatomy chiropractic is the only San Diego Chiropractic clinic that specializes in Atlas Orthogonal and Activator Chiropractic. Additionally, Dr. Loharun and Dr. Kathireson are currently the only Board Certified Upper Cervical Chiropractors in San Diego.
