Atlas Orthogonal

Atlas Orthogonal is an upper cervical chiropractic technique that focuses on aligning the head relative to the neck and the rest of the body. The “upper cervical,” spine refers to the top two bones of the spine: the Atlas (C1) and the Axis (C2). This technique uses a non-invasive instrument to create a sound wave that gently moves these bones into proper alignment. Specific x-rays are taken to determine each patient’s unique three-dimensional misalignment pattern. The adjustment itself is painless – you may not notice anything except the positive effects of improved posture and function!

Improper alignment of the head and neck causes imbalance and leads to one or more of these issues: poor posture, elevated shoulder, and elevated hip. Imagine walking around with one hip higher than the other. A high hip will pull up one of your legs creating a short leg. As the body compensates for moving around off balance, aches and pains develop because of the uneven distribution of body mass.

Additionally, the spinal cord and major blood supply to the brain pass through the upper cervical area via foramen (holes in the bones). Improper alignment can change the size of the passageways. This can lead to headaches, dizziness, migraines, as well as, pain, numbness, and weakness anywhere in the body.

Activator

The Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT) uses an instrument called the Activator, to move the bones in the spine. This instrument creates low force, fast adjustments that are reproducible.

For the rest of the spine, C3 and below, we use this instrument to gently restore balance to any areas of compensation. Because the Activator can generate a force faster than your muscles can contract, you won’t have time to flinch. Additionally, there is no twisting or turning required of you. Simply continue enjoying your adjustment.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

Our office uses Erchonia lasers, the only laser that has a FDA clearance (2019) for relief of “whole body,” pain. Erchonia also has 17 FDA clearances for management of chronic neck, low back, and shoulder pain.

LLLT, also called cold laser therapy or photobiomodulation therapy, is a type of light therapy designed to repair tissue, reduce pain and inflammation, and provide other benefits for patients in medical treatments. The wavelengths of light (size of light particles) are much smaller than infrared or LED lasers thus, they’re able to penetrate the skin without heat or pain – you’ll feel nothing but the benefits of the laser!

When used in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments, LLLT has been shown to reduce inflammation in the painful area, increase the healing response time, and prevent the pain from returning.

Rapid Release Therapy

The Rapid Release is a FDA registered, high speed medical device that helps relax muscles and relieves aches and pains. In 2010, RR discovered that high speed vibration in short strokes was optimal for muscle relaxation and recovery. This device vibrates faster than hand held massage guns. At 10,000 vibrations per minute, the RR can provide relief to tight muscles in under 5 minutes. Rapid Release Therapy is just one of Anatomy Chiropractic’s painless and low force techniques.
